We would like to give you some useful tips about how to care for your wool felt products. Wool felt can be:
vacuumed
spot cleaned
dry cleaned. If stains cannot be removed with spot cleaning, you can use a professional dry cleaner, who has experience with wool.
Do NOT machine-wash, put in the dryer, steam clean, or use steam. This might partially shrink and deform the wool felt product.
DUST, CRUMBS, OTHER DRY PARTICLES
Vacuum gently with small soft and clean brush and/or use lint roller or duct tape (a loop around your fingers) and stroke the surface and edges of felt product, until particles are removed.
WATER SPILLS
1. Lay felt product flat on a surface like a kitchen counter or table.
2. Take an absorbent dry cloth and press the affected spot with it a few times by applying some pressure, until the cloth has reabsorbed most of the water from the felt.
3. Leave felt product lying flat and allow it to dry. Done!
OTHER SPILLS, STAINS (e.g. tea, wine, ketchup)
1. Use paper towel to absorb the spilled liquid (or if it`s a thick liquid, scoop it up with a spoon).
2. Wet the stain with lukewarm water under faucet and lightly massage spot with fingertips (don’t rub or scratch) to remove coarse dirt.
3. Lay felt product flat on a surface like a kitchen counter or table. Apply small amount of mild soap (like hand soap, shampoo) to the spot and with fingertips massage the spot until foam starts forming and stain is loosened up.
4. Press the soapy spot a few times with fingertips, so that the water and soap penetrate the felt and start coming through on the other side of the felt. This will further loosen up any stain particles between wool fibers. Let it sit for 15 minutes.
5. Rinse the soapy spot under faucet by repeatedly pressing the felt (where the soapy spot is) with your fingertips until the water runs clear and no soap remains in the felt. (Optional: Alternatively, you can lightly rinse the spot with fingertips under the faucet, then lay the felt product on a flat surface, take a wet small soft sponge, and press the affected spot with the wet sponge repeatedly until the water from the sponge transfers into the felt and comes through on the other side of the felt. Keep making the sponge wet and repeat the step, until the soap is flushed out from the wool fibers of the felt.)
